This is in response to your research request. The following sources have been searched for information concerning John Eric Anderson: Swedish Passenger index database Emihamn 1869-1930, Samuel Lutheran Church in Muskegon MI.
In the passenger index database, we found the emigration records for Johan E (37 years old), Johanna (27 years old), and Knut Andersson (2 years old). They left Sweden via the port of Malmo on April 5, 1883. They were from Stockholm City, and they were headed for Muskegon with the contract number 1883:592:1238 (copies enclosed). Even though Johan E's age is different and the son's name is Knut, everything else matches and we're pretty sure we have the right people.
We looked for John Eric and his family in the records of Samuel Lutheran Church in Muskegon. On page 16 of the Ministerial Acts, we found the baptism record for Agnes V. Anderson. It says that her parents, John Eric Anderson and Johanna Johnson, were not members of the church. Many Swedes used the church for religious ceremonies, such as baptisms, funerals, weddings, etc. without ever joining.
Unfortunately, we have no way of finding birth information apart from church records. We do not have Swedish parish records from Stockholm. Since they were from Stockholm, and we don't know which parishes they were from within Stockholm, we recommend that you write to the Genealogical Society in Stockholm.
