Dr. Richard Maeder

Dr. Richard F. “Dick” Maeder, 69, of Murphy, died Monday, May 28, 2012.
He was a native of Fulton, N.Y., but lived in Cherokee County since 2001. He
was a retired professor from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.
Dick was the thread that connected and anchored his many friends. His
best friends wrote of him:
“No one could meet Dick and not be impressed by his easy-going, yet sincere
nature. He was truly a one-of-a-kind man that won’t ever be forgotten by the
people who knew him.”
“I have lost the kind of friend that people wish for. The good memories will
remain with me always as well as an empty spot in my heart.”
“My dear old friend, we’ve shared the laughter and the tears. You are alive
in my heart forever.”
“You will be very much missed. We won’t forget you, Dick.”
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Mary A. Maeder.
No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that we all do something special for
someone else in remembrance of Dick.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
