Joyce E. Cronin of Monroe, New York, a retired Registered Nurse for 25 years and a 10 year resident of the Monroe, New York area and former longtime Nanuet, New York resident, died at her home in Monroe on November 14, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was 67 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Carolyn Castiglia, she was born in Fulton, New York on April 2, 1943.
Joyce was a Registered Nurse specializing in Psychiatric care, held a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Masters of Science in Family Therapy and was retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York and St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall, New York.
Joyce is survived by her devoted children Carolyn Fowler and her husband Bill of Blooming Grove, NY, Joanne Joosten and her husband Michael of Monroe, NY and Lawrence M. Cronin and his wife Olga of Bronx, NY and her 6 grandchildren Chelsea, Tiffany, Quinn, Dennis, Olivia and Hailey.
Joyce is also survived by her siblings James Castiglia and his wife Wilma of Oswego, NY, Frank Castiglia and his wife Nila of Fulton, NY and sister Billie Cronin and her partner Sue of West Nyack, NY as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her son Michael P. Cronin and her brother Nicholas F. Castiglia.
The family would like to thank Joyce’s many friends who helped her through this time in her life along with the many Nurse’s, Care Partners and Doctors. Although she was courageous and brave through it all, she wasn’t alone.
She will be lovingly remembered for her fervor of learning, myriad collection of books, love of the State of Maine, her adventurous Kayaking and trip to Africa. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan attending many sporting events, theatre shows and dance performances.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 during the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:30 AM at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, New York 10954.
Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s R.C. Church Cemetery following the funeral mass.
