It was 1959. I was 16 years old. I can't believe my parents dared to send me so far away. And since I have been the mother of three boys growing up I understand it even less. How much did you know about me then, who was I then?

I came from a little village in the middle of Sweden, I had never seen a house taller than three floors. My father was "kantor" (organist and church choir director) of the church, teacher of the children. My mother was the second teacher of the village children. I was the middle daughter of three, shy, serious, dreaming. And very scared. Suddenly I became The Foreign Student. I had to capture all my forces, forget all my fears, and live up to your expectations. I hope I could give you some air from the world I came from. I had a wonderful year with you. America was a completely different world to me, I had never watched TV, eaten a pizza, or been to a Drive-in-movie. You all seemed so rich, gifted, present in another world. You accepted me as a member of your team and I loved it. You gave me an experience and a different view. I came back home as a different individual. My father said I had grown five years in one year. Then what?

When I came back my family had moved to Lund, a university city in southern Sweden. I went back to the Swedish school, studied Latin, Ancient Greek, German, French and English (I had a tolerant English teacher, she said if I kept would be consequent talking my American accent she would accept it), science. Medical school, tough studies. I met Rolf, Thee Man of My Life, we married, I had two children during studies, Erik born 67 and Anders 71 and then Gustav 74 after medical school. Rolf studied law and economics. He got a job in Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, one of the leading commercial banks of Sweden. I got a job at the University Hospital of Malmoe.

1983 we said to each other: "Is this it? Is this what we want to do the rest of our lives?"

We answered no. Rolf applied for a job abroad. Within a short time he was offered a new job and we moved to Sydney, Australia for three years. I left my position as senior physician in rheumatology and decided to have three years off, spending time with our three sons. But once they had settled down in their Australian schools and social life I looked around for contacts within medicine and especially rheumatology. I met professor Peter Brooks, holding the only chair of rheumatology of Australia by that time. He had an idea about Patient Education and we started a programme introducing that in Australia.

Once again experience from abroad changed my life. I came back with new ideas. Our boys had grown up and and I could start an academic career. It took me ten years to complete a Ph D in medicine under the title "Patient Education in Rheumatoid Arthritis", once again hard work, tough life and discipline. It was worth it. Today I work four days a week as a private rheumatologist, taking care of patients with chronic disabling disease. I find it rewarding, everthing I do is better than what they would have without a specialist in rheumatology. One day per week I spend at the University Hospital, responsible for patient education but also education of medical students, registrars and interns. I love my work and I even believe I contribute to the well-being of some individuals with chronic disease. My work has given me opportunities to visit meetings of rheumatology all over the world, Europe, Asia, Australia and South and North America. I usually attend the American College of Rheumatology every year, last year in Philadephia, next year in New Orleans.

Our sons have grown up, they have finished their studies at university, Erik in Economics, Anders in technology and Gustav Humaniora and Computer Science. Rolf is a senior bank man and can choose to do what he is good at and the bank needs, at the time and effort he chooses to offer. We are back in Lund, the old university town. It is similar to Princeton (which I visited when I was in Philadelphia last year). If you happen to come this way, let me know!

So all in all my 42 years since I left you have been quite exciting. I wonder what my my life had been if I had stayed in that little village in the country, if I had not dared to take the chance of being the Foreign Student of Class of 1960 of Fulton High School.

Update June 14, 2010:

I sold my practice as a rheumatologist two years ago and planned to retire, but somehow I feel I have more to give in the field of rheumatology at least at 25 %. I accepted an offer to work as a mentor for young doctors in their education to become specialists of rheumatology. Meeting young doctors giving them support and advice keeps me young!

My husband Rolf has left his everyday work at a bank and is now engaged as a consultant in trusts and student unions of the University of Lund. His deep interest in music has focused his ambition in a Chamber Music Society and a Jazz Club in Lund.

We are happy to be able to spend more time in our house in the country. It's an old farm house from the 19th century so it needs lots of care.

Finally we love being with our grandchildren. We have seven - from 2 months to 10 years old. Our three boys and their wives are all very busy in their jobs and we feel privileged to be back up for them. As most of you know, children are the hope of our future and the more we give to them the more we get back!

See you in Fulton in July!

After high school I went to St. Bonaventure University and then to graduate school at Penn State. Met my wife, Grace, there. She was from Pittsburgh and that's how I eventually ended up here. Because of my college ROTC commitment, I went into the Army (Artillery) and spent time at Fort Sill Oklahoma, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and, unfortunately, Viet Nam. Survived that and came back to Pittsburgh where I began a banking career with Mellon Bank. Have been with Dollar Bank for the last 20 years. I run our Corporate Banking and Leasing divisions.

We have two children: John went to Cornell. He met his wife there. She is from Seattle and that's where they live now. He works for a Amazon.com, and she is in her 3rd year of pediatric residency at Children's Hospital.. My daughter, Katie, went to University of Michigan and now works for America On Line in Chicago. My wife, Grace, is the coordinator of the gifted students for our local middle schools.

Update 5/9/10: My wife and I retired in 2006.  I still teach some credit analysis courses in the summer. We bought a place in Naples, but Pittsburgh will still be our home.

My son, John, works for Amazon in Seattle. His wife, Whitney, is a pediatrician. They have three boys: Mason (7), Mack (5) and John "Gus" August (2).

My daughter, Katie, is married, and living in Seattle, too.  She is expecting her first child (a girl) in July.  She works for Microsoft in their MSN division. Her husband, whom she met at the University of Michigan,  is a graphic artist and is the art director for a Seattle advertizing firm.

What a delightful surprise to get John's letter telling me about this site. I've noticed a smile spread across my face for a half hour now. I believe I can pick out Gail Anthony and Marietta Loomis in the picture. And of course I can pick out Howie. I've been married 35 years to Melford Wilson who serves as Academic Vice President of Winthrop University. We have three children, all married, with one grandchild. Our daughter is in NYC; our youngest son is in New Orleans; and our oldest son is in Waynesville, NC. We are healthy and overweight (Melford and I are) I teach school - elementary level, gifted and talented program. I'm feeling tired of doing it for the first time and am buying in years for retirement. Maybe in two more years, I can swing it. Glad to be part of this site. Hope all is well. Janet

Here we are in all our glory. Back row: daughter Marion, Son Melford with wife Amy, son John with wife Liz. Front row, me, Melford both holding Brooks our grandson (Melford and Amy's boy) Marion is working on her phd in theater in New York. John and Liz have taught a year in China and are now settling in New Orleans looking for work. They have degrees in Fine Arts and Creative Writing. Know anyone in NO looking for talented young people to hire? Melford and Amy are social workers in Waynesville, NC nestled in the mts. west of Asheville.

Hi Folks:

As I told many of you at the reunion, I worked as a library clerk for 25 years. Then my boss retired early and unexpectedly. I was promoted to his position and am currently working on a Master's Degree in at S.U. so I will no longer be "credentially challenged." I expect to graduate in '03. I'm the poster child for "lifelong learning." Built for distance instead of speed, I guess.

I manage a small library that serves 12,000 people a year and includes two computer labs. The Internet has made this a very challenging time to work in the "information" professions.

Work and school take up most of my time but I still enjoy my life alot. Intend to work until I fall face-first into the library glue...

I'd be happy to hear from anyone who wants to write....

The reunion was great and I'm looking forward to the next. We said 2005, didn't we?

Although I graduated from Penn Hall in Chambersburg, PA I love going to 'our' reunions and seeing everyone. After PH I went to Rochester Business Institute. Married in 1963, divorced in 1997 (he split 7 yrs ago). We have 6 children and 7 grandchildren, going on 8 next month. I have  worked on & off over the years (mainly to keep my sanity). The kids are great, but it was a challenging job. My oldest daughter is a housewife, mother of 3 and home schools, she and her family live in Ossining, NY. Oldest son is married sans children. Mark attended SUNY Canton with a diploma in Electrical Construction & Maint and then decided he wanted to drive tractor-trailer. He and his wife live in Fulton. Next in line is Julie who is a single mother of 3. She is attending Cayuga Comm. College full-time (Accounting) and works part-time, lives in Hannibal. Phil was in the Army Reserves, is married with one toddler and one on the way. He owns E-Z Way Oil change in Oswego & Hannibal and Sommers Auto Sales. Tim attended Morrisville 2 years (Mechanical Tech), is unmarried, a plumber and has his own plumbing business on the side (both residential and commercial.) He lives with me and helps with all those maintenance tasks. Amy the youngest, is single, also attended CCC, works in E. Syr and is presently studying medical transcription, lives in Minetto. I took up sailing a few years ago and my son Mark & I go whenever we can. I have been a part-time student the past 5 years at CCC enrolled in the Studio Art & Design course. However, this semester I am only taking, Real Estate Sales and hope to start selling next year and resume my part-time studies in art. I recently signed up with a temp agency and hope to be working soon. For the past 10 years I have been going to Florida in the winter for a few weeks - I stay with my friends in Ft. Myers (in Town & River). Sounds like we should have a reunion in Florida. Thanks John for this great site! Great idea!

Update 8/9/06: In June I quit my job at Laboratory Alliance in Liverpool after working there two years and retired. I am in the process of hauling out and throwing away after living in my  home  for 29  years and am moving to Coats, NC with my daughter Julie and her family.  My oldest son Mark & his wife just moved to Wilson, NC a month ago.  My  daughter Amy & her husband are also moving to NC in Sept. My youngest son, Tim (33)married in March and he and his wife just bought a home in Lawrenceville, GA. My oldest daughter, Laurie and  her family are also in GA at the moment but will  be moving elsewhere soon. They have a 5th wheel  and are traveling around the east coast before the  kids leave home.  My son Phil and his family will  be staying in Oswego for the time being.

I now have 4 granddaughters and 7 grandsons; ages ranging from 15 months to 19 years.

I will update my profile when I move. My goal is  to leave by the end of Sept. if  my house sells by then, otherwise before the snow flies

Update 8/8/07: I have relocated to Coats, NC about an hour south of Raleigh off Rt. 95.

Sold my property in NY and moved here June 9.  I am living with my daughter Julie, Bill and two children, in a 100 year-old house with 6 large bedrooms, 4 baths, and 4 fireplaces.  I have a suite of rooms upstairs including an outside balcony and I have use of the whole house. It's great. And we are only 2 hours from the ocean!  Last year my children began scattering and I was anxious to get out of the cold NY weather, high taxes, etc. so I took Julie and Bill up on their offer to have me live with them.  My oldest son Mark and his wife live close by in Wilson, NC, son Tim and his wife (who are expecting their first child in Jan.) in Lawrenceville, (Atlanta area) GA, daughter Laurie, husband and 3 children are currently in Oceano, CA (near San Luis Obispo), Phil, his wife and 4 children are still in Oswego and Amy and her husband are in Minetto.  So now I have lots of places to visit.

My main activities are antiquing, going to flea markets, reading, gardening in pots and investigating the area.

Update 11/04/08: Didn't think I would be moving again (see address above) so soon but here I am in the Atlanta, GA area.  The weather is almost identical to NC, but more humid in the summer. A lot of building going on here and the traffic is terrible, soooo busy.

I am living in my son, Tim & his wife Taylor's "in-law" apt. Very comfortable & spacious. They have a 10 month old daughter, Hannah, who I get to watch quite frequently. She is a cutie with reddish blonde hair & blue eyes, & a good disposition, like her mother.

Spent part of May & June "back home" with my daughter, Amy & her husband Jim in Minetto. Visited with my son Phil & wife Caramia, and my 4 young grandchildren in Oswego. Also visited my brother & wife and many friends. However, didn't see anyone from our class.

After FHS I attended SUNY Oswego and got an undergraduate degree in education and a Master's degree in school counseling. After working as a teacher and later as a school counselor in Oneida, in 1969 I moved to Florida and received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Florida State University in 1971. I took a faculty position at Florida Atlantic University, a medium sized (25,000 students) state university in Boca Raton, Florida and have been there ever since. In those 30 years, I have been a faculty member, a department chairperson, and an associate dean of the College of Education. I have been able to keep my hands dirty by also operating a landscape nursery and palm tree farm for the past 16 years.

I was married to the former Barbara Johnson (class of 1960) for a number of years. Our only child Claudia was killed in an automobile accident in 1991.

My wife Mary and I have been married 22 years and have just finished building a new home in the North Carolina mountains where we plan to retire very soon. We may be the only ones not retiring in Florida.

The web site is a great idea. Here's a picture from a couple of years ago. I'm much younger now.

Update 11/10/02: This will update my previous information. I retired last December after 30 years at Florida Atlantic University. My wife Mary, a school administrator in Broward County, Florida (Ft. Lauderdale area), retired at the same time. We sold our farm in Delray Beach, FL and moved to the North Carolina mountains where we built a new mountain home and also have a farm in the valley below for our animals. Mountain life is a welcome change from the craziness of south Florida. So now the secret is out and you know where Floridians go to retire.

Update 07/07/2010:

I'm still living in the North Carolina mountains and enjoying the outdoors.  Wildlife is abundant here with deer, bears, coyotes, bobcats, etc. always around the property.  Since about 60% of the land in this county is either Forest Service or National Park land, 4wheeling trails are everywhere.

If you were to ask my wife Mary how I spend my time she would probably say "hanging out with the locals and drinking moonshine."  She fails to point out that she has 11 horses on 2 farms and I'm the resident "stable boy."  She still rides the trails but I don't.  If I break bones, my stable boy career may be over - hmmm.

I look forward to seeing old friends and maybe making new ones at the reunion.  Thanks for all your work on the web site and the committee's work on the reunion.

I am still employed by Oswego County Department of Social Services as a social Welfare Examiner.  My husband is semi-retired and is, of course, a photographer like my father was.  I have 3 children.  Jim, who is 1st meat cutter for TOPS Market, Carol, who is a Secretary at Oswego Hospital Mental Health Division, and Kevin who is employed by DAL Tile in Londonderry, New Hampshire.  I have 5 grandchildren aged 17, 15, 11, 5 and 3 years of age.  My 15 year old grandson drives a micro-sprint race car and has been driving race cars since he was 4 years of age.  He started racing in 1/4 midget cars just like Jeff Gordon did.  Racing is a big part of our life now because my husband has gone from car owner to race photographer to car owner again with our grandson.  I currently enjoy doing counted cross stitching and have won several blue ribbons at the Fair for my work.  I expect to continue working because I enjoy  the job I currently hold.  I have worked for Oswego County since 1972.  I t was good to hear from John [Anderson], since we seemed to always be in the same home room since he was A and I was B.

[Editor's Note: Lora is retiring as of 1/31/02.  She looks forward to doing some traveling now that she has the extra time.]

Update 11/13/02:  My update is that I am back working part time with the Fulton School District Food Service . It's a perfect part time job with no night work weekends and holidays off and of course summers off too. It is not stressful and I am out of the house seeing what the next generation is up to and I am enjoying it.

Update 9/21/06:  I'm no longer working at school and have fully retired.  My husband is now employed part time at Seneca Hill Manor Nursing Home.  He just wants to keep going like the energizer bunny.  We have another dog, Frannie, that isn't in the picture (see below).  She is a basset also.

What a nice surprise! great job on the website John. Jerry and I are one of the {lucky ones}. We both threw in the towel and are retired. Jerry and I have been married for 24 years. After H.S. I graduated from CCBI in Syracuse. I've had a variety of jobs from telephone operator to grading apples. I also worked at Rubbermaid in Cortland before they closed the plant. We have one son from my first marriage. His name is Louis Wallace. He graduated from Oswego State and is employed by Lockheed Martin as a Software Design Engineer. My husband Jerry has a part time job at the hospital in Cortland which keeps him busy. I enjoy garage sales, auctions and scouring the countryside for treasures. I hope to start selling on E Bay. Also I enjoy geology research. Almost forgot the other member of our family. He's a yellow nape Amazon parrot named Cassidy. Its like having a two year old around that never grows up. Sometimes good and sometimes bad but we love him. I might have some old school! pictures if I can find them. Jane Abraham Miller.

P.S. In the 40th reunion picture I'm the {blonde} in the back row.

Youve done a great job on the website, John. Ive been away from Fulton for quite a number of years and its interesting to know what some of our classmates have done since graduating from high school. It was fun to get out the yearbook and look at how everyone looked back in 1960. I attended SUNY Oswego and after graduation, taught in Webster, New York for 9 years. I met my husband, who is Canadian, while skiing in Vermont. We married in 1973 and moved to Woodstock, Ontario. After teaching full time there for a couple of years, I took some time off when our children were born. When our children started school, I went back to teaching part timepreschool then substituting. My husband Dave and I have been married for 28 years and have two daughters. Deb is 26 and, like her dad, graduated in engineering. She is currently working in Toronto as a product manager for a software company based out of California. Jennifer is 24. She did her undergraduate degree in kinesiology and then, following in her mothers footsteps, went on to get a degree in education. She decided to experience a different culture, and is teaching in a private school in Monterrey, Mexico for the year. Both Dave and I are officially retired. Our current project is renovating our house and, since both daughters have now graduated, we hope to do some more traveling. I enjoy crafting and am currently trying to do some work on family history. The internet genealogy sites have been a great help. Hopefully, more people will take this opportunity to tell their fellow classmates what theyre now doing with their lives. Thanks John for taking the time to set up this website.

Update 06/05/10:
Wow, 50 years since graduating!  As for my update:  I have two new knees (2006) which regularly set off the alarms at the airport; both our daughters were married within 6 months of each otherDeb in a garden ceremony in 2004 and Jennifer on the beach in the Dominican Republic in 2005 and weve become grandparents.  Deb and Patrick moved from Toronto to Vancouver in 2005.  She still works as a product manager and her husband works for Tourism B.C.  They presented us with our first grandchild, Owen, in 2007 and are currently expecting their second child.  Jennifer and Kyle are in the Kingston, Ontario area and are both teaching special education.  With our family being quite a distance from us, Dave and I spend a fair amount of time in the air or on the road.  As you are celebrating in Fulton , well be in Vancouver celebrating Owens third birthday.  Enjoy the weekend!  I look forward to seeing some photos from the reunion on the website.

After high school I attended Ottawa Univ. in Kansas City.  Ted Woehr also was there.  I stayed a year and 1/2 playing football, the I broke some finers and had surgery.  Went home to Fulton, then decided to play ball for Ithaca College.  One of the first persons on the team I saw, John Churchill, was Honey's (my wife's) brother.  After Ithaca I ended up at nestle.  That is where I met my first wife who lived in Oswego.  Got married and moved to Oswego and started at Hammermill.  It is now International Paper Co.  I took a 5 year course and became an electrician.  By the way, I love my field and my job.  I am foreman of the electric shop (got to brag a bit).  International Paper is the largest paper company in the U.S.; right now my electric shop is first in the U.S. with a few more months to go---wish me luck.

Now to start I have 6 children and one stepson.  Here goes: Judy is a beer distributor in Oswego; Sue graduated from Auburn and is the manager of Walmart in Oswego.  She worked her way up; Missy and her husband own a construction company in Sterling, NY; Christine is graduate of Oswego State and works at Pathfinder Bank in Oswego.  She's working on her Masters to teach college English.  Now my boys: John graduated from Canton (takes after his old man) and is an electrician at Alcon in Oswego.  Then our youngest graduated from Oswego State and is a social worker of the County of Oswego with a Criminal Justice degree.  In 1996 I divorced my wife.  Honey Churchill Parkhurst's husband, Bob, was in management at Morrill Press in Fulton (dick Hopman, Kay's husband worked with him).  In the bad storm of 1993 Bob fainted and fell off the roof.  He could only talk from then on.  Honey kept him home doing all his care.  It was in all our papers.  I sent cards and encouragement to them both, besides praying for them.  We were friends in high school; Bob the class of 1959, me the class of 1960 and Honey the class of 1961.  Because of my large family I worked 18 years on Saturday night security at the Owego Speedway.  Well some race times Honey's son brought Bob in a a van in his wheel chair as racing was his love and no one knew how much time he had left.  I went over every week to talk over our FHS times. Football was both of our loves and, of course, racing.  Then help Honey and her son load him in the van for home.  Three years we met like that every Saturday night.  Bob passed away in October of 1995.  Honey and I kept in touch.  Then in 1999 Honey had a very serious type of cancer in both breasts.  She lost her breast; plus every 3 weekends for one year she went for 5 hour chemo.  I went with her mother through them all.  In 1998 we married.  Chemo was every hard, and the side effects have been awful.  Cartilage in spine is gone.  Had to have both knee replaced, then broke her femur.  All in a year and a half.  She uses a walker and cane.  Wears pain patches.  Just found out 3 spots on liver and 2 in the pelvis.  Going for more tests to keep an eye on these.  The pelvis one is pre-cancerous.  Honey and Bob had two boys.  Rob Parkhurst, Jr. was on the Fulton Police Dept. and a drunk driver killed him at 20 years old.  Mike, my stepson, is Northeaster manager of E-Z-Go (Textron).  He sells and leases golf carts to State and private golf courses.  He just recently moved back to Fulton to spend quality time with his mom and me. We have 10 grandchildren...the two youngest are 6 months and one year old.  Honey and I are in our glory.  We love children.  My parents still live in our homestead on Old Rt. 57.  My only sibling, my sister Ginny Faucett, died last year of a massive heart attack at 56.  She and Honey were great friends.  They both graduated together in 1961.  I was lucky to find a wife the second time around that loves the same hobbies as I do: auto races and, of course, pro and college football.  We don't leave our chairs on Sunday.  We are both Christians and pray to God to give Honey many years to be with me.  She is my rock.  Oh, Honey says to tell you I took over her cellar with all my weight machines.  Yes, I still lift 3 times a week and still even have my college set.  They are still in great shape.  That's my passion ...lifting.  Well now old classmates, now you know what's happened to your classmate, Tom Bugow.

After college I joined the Air Force--retired after 22 years as a Lt Col. Some great assignments, some not so great. 3 years stationed in Hawaii made up for all the questionable ones.

Retired here in Mesa and gravitated to the securities brokerage business. Own the company now.

Can't see retirement on the horizon..having way too much fun. Play an inordinate amount of golf and ride my horse as often as I can.

My wife is a world class equestrian and has competed twice in the world championships. Our son works for Warner Brothers..lots of great Christmas gifts from the Warner Bros gift shop!

Update July 5, 2010:

Moved from Mesa to Prescott, Arizona in 2006.  Have three horses and a Yorkie pooch, who fears nothing. Still work every daysort of.  Had an AF friend who was the sole winner of the second largest Arizona Lottery; asked me to manage the money and personal matters for him.   Hard to say no to that and the accompanying perks.  Other than that, ride the range and play golf as much as possible. Somewhat of a boring life but geez,  beats playing pinball and nursing a single 5 cent soda for hours on end  at The Shop! ( Hmmm, let me rethink that.)

Hi Everyone! Isn't this a great idea? Thank you, John--just like you to do this! I plan to write more when I figure out where to start. Reading the profiles, I'm stunned to find out we are so grown up. I remember 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, etc. so well and, sometimes, it seems like yesterday. So many memories and I still feel like I'm seventeen on the inside when I drift back in time. My e-mail is k8weaver@aol.com and I would love to hear from people. I almost found Jackie Henry a while ago and I had a wonderful long chat with Phyllis Chiarelli once. Where is June Keiser? I hope "the girls" might get in touch with me--you know who you are! Love to Howie and Barry. Hi, Ellie Sheldon. Hello to Bill B and Eddie. To Tom Bugow and Honey, bless your hearts! I'll be thinking and praying for you. And for all of us, these days. Well, I guess I've written a lot, after all. I should say I am a psychotherapist, have a Master's in Clinical social Work and see couples and individuals. For last 3 years I have had my office at home. Husband, Peter, is a writer/journalist and works for himself, too, from home. We are so content with this arrangement, it's scary. We have to remember to get out and about. Guess I'll save the historical stuff for another time--is that the way it works, John?

I'm still working at Nestle Confections & Snacks (41 years last May - where or where has the time gone). I hope to work at least another 3 years so I can retire and collect Social Security. I am an Administrative Assistant in the Maintenance and Engineering Dept. There are many of our classmates who also work at Nestle.

My husband, Joe, and I have 3 children, Tim (36), Gina (34), and Joe (28). Gina has given us our only grandchild, James Michael (3). My husband retired last October and is enjoying every moment of his retirement. He is very active in the church. Tim, unfortunately is disabled with PPH (Primary Pulmonary Hypertension). He was diagnosed in 1996. My son, Joe, is a school teacher at Granby Elementary in his 3rd year. He teaches pre-first. My daughter, Gina, works at University Internists as a Medical Assistant.

One of my favorite pastimes is going to the casino. My aunt and I go to Atlantic City twice a year, and occasionally we get to Niagara Falls for day trips. Have never hit it big, but I enjoy trying.

Will update with an E-mail address as soon as I can. I'm using my son's computer, and I don't know what the address is.

Hope everyone is doing well, and what a great idea!!

Update June 15, 2010: We are both still working! Some people just can't retire.  This August we will be Married 47 years. Can you believe it?   It all seems like just yesterday. Our 4 children , Ann and husband Ted Kush Live in Skaneateles and have two girls , Sophie,10 and Grace,8.  Ann is a Public Information specialist and works from home, Ted teaches and coaches at the High School.  Bob is in Guam, working on an ecological project with E.A.  He is single with no baggage, age 44. Karen and Garry Holliday have three, Malia,13, Vincent,9 and Owen,6.  They live in Lewiston, NY.  Garry is a Hydro Plant operator at Niagara Falls and Karen manages the home front.  Steven and wife Karen live in Baldwinsville and have Steven,10 and Olivia,7. Steven is a project manager for Stevens Office Supplies and wife, Karen, works for the NY Health Dept., with Tom.  We enjoy all seven grandchildren and it gets pretty lively when were all together.

Tom had emergency by-pass surgery last July and went back to work full time. He plans to retire this year.  I'm working per-diem for Oswego Health as a Family Nurse Practitioner 15-20 hrs. a week for 8 months and then spend winters at our villa in Sarasota Fl.  With my arthritis I turn to stone in Fulton's winters. (It was cold in Fl this past winter, but not as cold or snowy as here.) For the past 25 years I have served as the  Oswego County representative on the NY State Board of Visitors, at Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse.  We are appointed by the Governor to do over site and advocacy for persons in the system with mental health needs.

Four years ago I was appointed by the governor to the position of Volunteer Commissioner member of The Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy For Persons With Disabilities.  I enjoy this service work and feel it is vital.

We will be leaving Fulton within the next year.  My mom was the last of our parents and she passed away June 1st.  We have no children here, so no reason for us to be in this snow belt.  That's enough about us.... we really want to see you ALL at this 50th Reunion. We have planned an enjoyable weekend with good food, friends and fun.  It doesn't get much better than this.  Join us please.

Joined Navy after FHS. Worked at Black Clawson in Fulton as a machinist, after a long apprenticeship. Married in 1965 to Lorraine Sheldon had three sons- Edward 1967, Jeffery 1969, Robert 1973. Worked for Miller Brewing Co. from 1976 until 1994 when they closed. Got a separation and divorce from Lorraine in 1988 and in 1989. Married Linda Halsey in Dec 1989, which automatically gave us six children. Lynn has three children Mitch, Brett and Tara Cary. After Miller closed, moved to Texas for a Maintenance supervisors job with Stroh Brewery, until they closed. Now work for Sig Simonazzi of North America, home office in Plano, TX. Hopefully this is the last move, until we retire. Have traveled to Italy, Switzerland and the U.K. for my job in the last few years. To conclude this rambling message, Lynn and I now have six beautiful grandchildren that keep us busy when we return to Fulton.  (Editor's Note: Ed and Lynn are now living in Fulton.)

Update: 07/30/03: Have sold our home in Texas and summering in Fulton, winters we do not know yet. We also have nine grandchildren now.  Also John I think you are doing a great job on this site.

Update: 12/15/04:  Just a little update. We had two more grandchildren this year. We now have eleven little ones. Linda and I are building a new home on a 100 acre pond in West Monroe called North Pond. When any of you are in town call and come visit us.  It is a beautiful place; not in the winter...we will be where it is warm.

I really wanted to get this out to you sooner, but in the aftermath of 9/11, watching, listening and reading has taken a high priority.  Did you ever dream we would be facing a threat this huge?  The 50s sure sound good, dont they?  On to the lighter side.

If was great to go through the info and see some familiar facesI was especially glad to see Dick Maeders picture.  His sister, Kathy, was married to my brother, Bob, who passed away in 80 at the age of 47.

Its been so long and Im trying to avoid making this sound like an Xmas letter, but will fill you in a little (I mean, 42 years is a damn long time!).  Its not that I didnt think about going back to reunions, but 3,000 miles is a long trip and we usually make it in the fall.  We never regretted moving to California from South Bend, Indiana in 1969 (the Central Coast is paradise), but miss the fall; so it satisfies us to leaf peep in Sept/Oct.visit my 88 year old mom, still on Fay St. and trek up to Lake Placid for a few days.

I lost contact with the group after the first few years of Xmas cards; however, have had recent Xmas letters from Phyllis Kesterke and had dinner with Sandy Menter 3 years ago in Lakewood Colorado while visiting brother Sami.  It was great.  She looked wonderful. Sami lost his wife to a brain tumor 5 years ago and has since moved to Dillon, Colorado.

Here are the Ahern family stats:  Chuck and I have been married 38 yearsyikes!  And they said it wouldnt last.  Two daughters, Mary Beth (left in picture), 34, and husband, Joe, married 8 years (no children).  Son-in-law Joe St. Amand's dad grew up in Oswego, 12 years and two blocks apart from Chucksmall world.  Joe and Mary Beth are Cal. Poly grads. He, Industrial Engineeringshe, in Biology.  Mary Beths a tech for Cal. Dept of Agriculture.  Lee (far right), my other daughter, is 30graduated from Cal. Poly two years ago with a degree in Human Development and teaches special ed.

I work very part time in a clothing boutique in Morro Bay, a small central coast town.  Very popular with tourists.  Chuck is retired and in the social security club.

Will there be a 45th reunion?  Think 50th is pushing it??  Be well.

Hi classmates,

Left Fulton in 1960 for Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Wisconsin. Been in Wisconsin, except for time off for good behavior, since 1966. Remember the fiery Rosemarie O'Conner English Teacher extraordinaire: Well I am an ordinary member of that dreaded species. I teach American Literature and Freshman Comp (mainly) at UWSP (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point)--similar to Oswego State.

I like to play the piano and have made some money in the past doing it but not enough to give up my day job. I practiced being married three times before I got it right with my wife of 7 years. We have a large blended family with many interesting characters in it. I became a biological grandfather a month ago. Its great isn't it?

My wife is an excellent scrabble player who plays a lot online. I am a below average chess player who likes to play online.

Be glad to tell you more if you are interested. I am so pleased to find this website and to make new-old connections.

I love revisiting the Fulton area: it is beautiful and full of spots I associate with youth and dreams and energy.

Things have turned out very well for me; I hope the same for you.

Lynn "Max" Stewart
